The metal “canopy-bed” HM573.02 is a double bed in WHITE color, for a mattress dimension of 160X200cm, which refers to ages of the past, and is a vintage point of reference in your bedroom. It consists of 4 tall pillars which are joined at the tops creating the canopy of the bed.
Mini Story: The use of the “canopy-bed” began around the 15th century in the countries of Central Europe. The canopy of the bed was draped around the perimeter, lending an air of grandeur to the final result. It is considered a fairy-tale piece of furniture because it was used by the upper classes. Princes and kings “closed” their beds with heavy, velvet curtains to protect their private moments from the servants and keep the cold out of their bed! In China, however, it was used by all social classes and was in fact the most important piece of furniture in the house. That’s why brides often received a “bed with canopy”, as a…. dowry! Many of the beds had thick wooden pillars and a wooden canopy decorated with carved representations. Later, the wooden pillars were replaced by metallic ones.
